NCC 2012

The Bartenders Association of Ireland (BAI) hosted the annual National Cocktail Competition as part of the inaugural Food & Bev Live in the City West Convention Centre, Co. Dublin.

The National Cocktail Competition (NCC), sponsored by Edward Dillon & Co. Ltd, took place on Wed 1st Feb 2012.

Bartenders from across Ireland came together to battle it out and create their ultimate cocktail mix. Their common goal is to be awarded the title of National Cocktail Champion 2012. The winner will represent Ireland at the World Cocktail Competition in Beijing, China in October this year.

Each competitor had to prepare an original cocktail based on brands available from Edward Dillon & Co. Ltd. distributors of well know premium brands such as Bacardi, Hennessy and Jack Daniels, to name but a few. Their cocktail must be prepared utilising a professional technique accompanied by the highest standards of hygiene.

Chris Crowley (21) from East Village, Cork won the Pre-Dinner category and following a strongly contested final round was announced as the National Cocktail Champion 2012.

Speaking after the competition, Declan Byrne, President of the Bartenders Association of Ireland (3rd term), said: "The Bartenders Association of Ireland is committed to promoting the best bartenders in Ireland by working with trade shows such as Food & Bev Live. The National Cocktail Competition is the highlight of our year and provides bartenders with the opportunity to display their professionalism and creative talent. These attributes go a long way in high quality customer care. To be awarded the title of National Cocktail Champion happens only once per year. Chris has achieved this at such a young age and his future looks very bright. He’ll be a great ambassador for the Ireland in China. Our sincere best wishes to him and our thanks to our sponsor Edward Dillon & Co. Ltd. for their continued support of the National Cocktail Competition".
